After the implementation of a CorVu solution it is challenging to analyse the overall usage of the reporting system. FileRanger can solve this challenge.

FileRanger allows the capture and analysis of CorVu reports usage within CorBusiness, CorVu Java Server and HyperVu.

How FileRanger Works

There are four key components that work together:

FileRanger Server

FileRanger Server manages the capturing and monitoring of report usage. Data capture can be performed daily or on a more regular basis.

Easy to use wizard helps with initial setup and configuration.
Email alerts identify information captured or any errors that may occur.
Data archiving helps to manage object usage storage.

FileRanger Object Manager

FileRanger Object Manager is used to build a library of objects. Once the library is in place, objects are categorised for reporting purposes. For example, objects can be grouped by functional group, type or style and reported on.

Automated set up of Folder and Object Categories
Automatic detection and categorisation of new folders and objects.
Create a data dictionary of all CorVu objects in your organisation.
Works with CorBusiness, 3-tier, CorVu Java Server and HyperVu objects.

FileRanger User Manager

FileRanger User Manager module is used to build a catalogue of users. As with the Object Manager, these users can be categorised to assist in the reporting of object usage.

Individual user categorisation to group similar users together e.g. the state they come from or job title.
Loading of users from CorVu user manager and Windows user manager.

FileRanger RapidApp and Reporting

FileRanger RapidApp contains a portfolio of reports to help analyse object usage. These can be tailored to suit a vast array of user requirements or new reports can be built. Once installed, report usage can be immediately analysed.

Report Analysis

Your reporting solution may have hundreds of reports spread across many different areas of the business. Using FileRanger we can group these reports logically e.g. Sales, General Ledger, Inventory and then focusing on their utilisation one at a time. Without this ability only individual reports could be analysed making it difficult to find areas of reporting that require attention.

User Analysis

Reporting solutions may have many users spread across the country or even globally. However even in situations where everyone is in a single office, it is next to impossible to ascertain who is or is not using CorVu and what parts of CorVu they are using. FileRanger provides Business Activity Monitoring of users and their system utilisation.

In the Report below User utilisation can be tracked by State. It is possible to drill on a State to list the individual users that have access.

After drilling down individual users can be viewed, including their utilisation of business reports.
